Patchwork is a two-player abstract strategy board game designed by Uwe Rosenberg. Players compete to build the most aesthetically pleasing patchwork quilt by purchasing patches from a central market. The game is played over a series of turns, each of which consists of either purchasing a patch or passing.
Patchwork is a quick and easy game to learn, but it offers a surprising amount of depth. Players must carefully consider the cost, time, and bonus buttons of each patch before making a purchase. They must also keep an eye on their opponent's progress, as the first player to fill a 7x7 square on their quilt earns a bonus tile worth 7 points.
In addition to the basic gameplay, Patchwork also features a number of other strategic elements. For example, players can earn bonus buttons by passing their time token over buttons on the time track. They can also claim special 1x1 patches by passing them on the time track before their opponent.
Patchwork is a great game for couples or anyone who enjoys a challenging yet relaxing game. It is also a great introduction to the world of abstract strategy games.
